Sidney Library’s Public Computing Center is offering a number of workshops during the month of June. A sample of topics include:
- Introduction to Windows 8
- How to Use Ancestry.com, Library Edition
- Documents and Folders (keeping your computer organized)
Open hours have also been established. During these times, patrons are welcome to stop by for one-on-one help, such as using their e-reader or help using a particular website. In addition, we have scanners and a Mac computer available for use.

The Sidney Library will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.
Tuesday, May 20th is voting day, and Sidney Memorial Public Library’s annual budget is part of that vote. We encourage you to vote between 7:00am and 8:00pm. For those of you in the Sidney School District, your voting location is the Sidney High School lobby (outside the auditorium).
Friends of the Libraries will host their monthly book club meeting, at which they will discuss F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. New members are welcome to join them at 11:30am on Tuesday May 20th in the Smart Community Room.
Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet, a talented group of musicians from the Binghamton music scene, will be performing in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room on Sunday May 18th at 1:30pm. We are excited to be hosting them and hope you will join us!

Are you interested in learning more about solar electric and heating systems? On Wednesday, May 14th at 6:30pm in the Smart Community Room, solar expert Todd Paternoster will present an overview of both systems and help building owners make educated decisions about future upgrades to their homes. He will also share energy conservation tips to help reduce costs. We invite you to attend this free program.
Local crafters will be pleased with the May art exhibition in Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room. It features works by the Afton Piece Corps Quilters, a group of talented members who transformed imagery from books into quilts and wall hangings.

- computer basics;
- Microsoft Word;
- downloading and accessing photos from your digital camera; and
- using online services relating to the library system.
