Sidney Memorial Public Library, Masonville Branch Library, and Sidney Center Branch Library will all be participating in Food For Fines the week of November 3rd – 10th. If you have overdue fines, we will accept non-perishable items as ‘payment’ for these fines. These items are then donated to the local food banks, just in time for the holiday season.
The Friends of the Libraries are showing Million Dollar Arm this Sunday, October 26th at 1:30pm in the Smart Community Room. This movie, which is free to the public, is described as a sports agent staging “an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball.”
Do you enjoy historical fiction? Join the Library Friends for their book discussion group on October 21 at 11:30 am. The book is Invention of Wingsby Sue Monk Kidd, which is set in the South in the early 1800’s and centers around the anti-slavery movement.
Lillie Anderson is the featured artist in Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room for the month of October. Ms Anderson studied intensely at schools like the High School of Music and Art, and has continued to draw and paint ever since. Her recent work includes local landscapes, cityscapes, and interior scenes. We invite you to check out the exhibit anytime our library is open.
The Sidney Library is holding their big book sale this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 9-11 in the Smart Community Room. If you’re interested in buying books of any genre, CD’s, DVD’s, VHS tapes, or magazines, stop by! The times are:
On Tuesday, October 7th at 6:30pm, local historian Scott Payne will share information on the sinking of the Titanic. This event, held in the Smart Community Room, will discuss the ship’s sinking and the 1985 discovery of its wreckage in the ocean. We invite you to join us for this free event.
