When the Sidney Central School district is closed for a snow day, the Sidney Library will open at 11am instead of 9am. Story time would also be cancelled. For further library closing details, you can check YNN Closings list online or listen to the local radio stations.
Tweens and teens are invited to stop by the library on Friday November 28th from 1-2pm in the Smart Community Room and use our photobooth setup. We will have fun props for you and your friends to pose with. You can bring your tablet or phone to take pictures too, and share them with your family and friends. Come be silly and have a good time!
Friends of the Libraries will show a movie on the big screen in the Smart Community Room on Sunday, November 23 at 1:30pm. Saving Mr. Banks is about the author of Mary Poppins, P.L. Travers, and her experience meeting and working with Walt Disney to adapt the book into a movie. This movie is free to the public. You can watch the trailer below:
Are you interested in trains and railroads? Do you have an interest in local history? Local author John Taibi will speak on Saturday November 22 at 1pm in the Smart Community Room, with a focus on the history of railroading between Albany and Binghamton. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity.
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein is the next book to be discussed at the Friends of the Libraries book discussion group. The group will meet Tuesday, November 18th at 11:30am. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting, including those who have never been before. We hope you will stop in!
November’s featured artists are photographers Brigitte Beehler and Janice Downey. Their work focuses on flowers and landscapes, all printed with vibrant colors that capture the natural beauty of this area. This exhibit will be up for the entire month of November in the Smart Community Room, and we encourage you to view it anytime the library is open.
