Families are invited to a fun activity on Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in our Smart Community Room.
Why wait ’til Spring Break? Put on your flip-flops, grab your sunglasses, and come to the library for some beach-time fun! We will have story time with some beach-themed books. Then kids will have time to make sand art, dig for buried treasure, and do a craft activity.
We will be showing the movie The Rewrite on the big screen soon. The Friends of the Libraries is sponsoring this free movie showing on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at 1:30pm in our Smart Community Room. The movie features Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei and is set in Binghamton! You can watch the trailer below.
The Sidney Library is excited to be part of the county wide Seed Swap program again this year. Look for the small wooden card catalog near our main desk.
We have a small variety of seeds to start off the program. Bring in your old seeds (from 2015) or leftovers from this spring’s planting. Flower, herb, and vegetable seeds are all welcome. See what’s here, and help yourself to a few seeds for your own garden.
Would you like to make your own greeting cards? Join us for a greeting card workshop on Saturday March 19th 2016 at 10am. For a materials fee of $5, you will make five all-occasion cards of your choice.
Registration is required. You can sign up online, by calling us at 563-1200, or in person at the library’s circulation desk.
Do crime shows fascinate you? Join us for a lecture on female serial killers throughout history. Michael T. Keene, local historian and author, will discuss some of New York’s ‘worst women’ on Sunday March 13th, 2016 at 1:30pm in our Smart Community Room. A few examples include Elizabeth P. McCraney of Oneonta and Lizzie Halliday of Sullivan County.
The Friends of the Libraries will host their mini book sale, called books a la carte, from 10am – noon on Saturday March 19th, 2016 in the main section of the library. Stop by and see what they have to offer!
If you are counting down the days to our semiannual big book sale, the official dates are April 14, 15, and 16.
The Delaware County Historical Association will have an exhibit on display in the Sidney Library’s Smart Community Room now through March 30th, 2016. The focus is on hand quilting from 1770 – 1916.
