We are a non-profit organization formed to develop supplemental funding to actively support the Sidney Memorial Public Library and its branch in Masonville. We have supported the libraries and funded the following so far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Live programs to enhance the children&#8217;s Summer Reading Program that include: Robert Rogers Puppet show, BJ &amp;&nbsp;company balloon&nbsp;magic, the butterfly tunnel program provided by the Winterberry Homestead and the author, Susan Bloom. Over 1000 participants enjoyed these programs!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prizes, books, and supplies for the Summer Reading Program at Sidney and the Masonville Branch, and Books for PreK thru Grade 12 book clubs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pizza and snacks for expanded Teen &amp; Tween nights and Hot chocolate and craft activities for our pre-parade Holly Jolly event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support for a Teen-Con night and Family Interactive Movie showings during school breaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supplemental supplies for adult craft workshops.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Purchase of food for the annual library staff development day, which took place in April 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DVD&#8217;s, water, and fresh popcorn for Friends Movie programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We purchased the movie license that allows for the public viewing of movies at the libraries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Video circuit fee that provides DVD&#8217;s to the Masonville branch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Book Page, a monthly publication about new books, is sponsored by the Friends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We provided the flowers for the planters at the Sidney and Masonville libraries, and thanks to the Sidney Hill and Valley Garden Club for their assistance in planting and watering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In appreciation to the hard working staff at the libraries, we recognized their dedication with gifts for Library week and the end of the year, which included a fleece vest for everyone this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your generous donations have helped make all of this possible, and we thank you for your past support.&nbsp; We were able to resume the Grand Book Sale this autumn and the twice-monthly Books a la Cart sales. This event is free and open to the public. Movies are shown in the Smart Community Room on the&nbsp;<strong>4th Sunday of the month, beginning at 1:30 pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>February 22th @ 1:30pm<\/strong> &#8212; Top Gun Maverick<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Book Sales<br><br>The Friends of the Libraries sponsor both a la carte (small) and large book sales.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Books A La Carte (smaller sale)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte book sales take place on the&nbsp;<strong>1st Saturday<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>3rd Saturday<\/strong>&nbsp;of each month in the Library\u2019s lobby from&nbsp;<strong>10:30 am -1:00 pm<\/strong>. Lots of items for sale at VERY reasonable prices! Stop in and browse. We will have items of interest for everyone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specific Dates, all from 10:30am to 1:00pm:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>February 7th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>February 21st<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>March 7th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>March 21st<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>April 4th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>April 18th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 2nd<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 16th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 6th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 20th<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grand Book Sale \u2013 every fall and spring\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Grand Book Sale is much larger than the Books A La Carte, and offers more books and different media, including magazines and movies<strong>.<\/strong><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Annual Meeting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual meeting of the Friends of the Libraries is held each year in February in the Smart Community Room of the Sidney Memorial Public Library in Sidney, NY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agenda will include a financial report and a review of activities supported by the Friends of the Libraries.
