Scrapbooking Workshop THIS SATURDAY 6/24

Come learn the basics of scrapbooking with Rebecca Freer. Ms. Freer will host a scrapbooking workshop this Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at 2pm in the Smart Community Room. You will leave with a completed page that can go in your own scrapbook or be framed to display in your home. If you have baby, wedding, or graduation photos you’ve been meaning to use, this would be a great place to learn some fun techniques.
Register now to reserve your spot in this popular workshop. The Friends of the Libraries are helping with the materials fee, so the cost is only $5.00. You will need to bring one or two 5×7 photos for your scrapbook page. Registration can be done in person at the library or by calling us at 563-1200.


Student Loan Repayment Presentation

The Sidney Memorial Public Library welcomes Scott Ahrens of the New York State Department of Financial Services to talk about the available options for student loan repayments. Mr. Ahrens will speak on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at 6:30pm in our Smart Community Room.

Topics that will be discussed include repayment plans, forbearances, deferments, loan consolidation, and many others.

Do you need help with your laptop, smartphone, tablet, or e-reader? Bring in the device, fully charged, to the PCC and let us help you one-on-one. You are also welcome to do genealogy research on our PCC computers.

Don’t forget about tomorrow’s Down and Out at the Delaware County Poorhouse presentation by County Historian Gabriella Pierce. We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Smart Community Room, to learn about the history of this fascinating place located near Delhi, NY.


Florida Birds Presentation 5/10

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 10th, 6:30pm when photographer / birder Rick Bunting will present Florida Favorites. Mr. Bunting will share his colorful images and fun facts about southern bird species. Having recently returned from Florida, Mr. Bunting has a fresh supply of material and photos of his favorite feathered friends.


Delaware County Poorhouse Presentation 5/13

Down and Out at the Delaware County Poorhouse, an illustrated talk by County Historian Gabriella Pierce, which was originally scheduled for April, will be presented on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00pm.

The poorhouse was located on Arbor Hill Road near Delhi and was home to poor, homeless, and indigent families and adults from all over the county. The presentation will include photographs and interviews with those who lived and grew up at the Home. We hope you will join us!


Jazz Band Performance 4/23

We are excited to have the Sidney Jr-Sr High Jazz Band perform again at the Sidney Library. Join us this Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 at 2:30pm in the Community Room for a high energy performance by the group, directed by Mr. Gregg Norris.

Need help with your smartphone? Do you have a question about Windows 10? Come to our Open Hours on Wednesday, March 29th anytime between 4-6pm to get one on one help with your technology questions. Open Hours are held in our Public Computing Center (downstairs in the library basement).


Solar Energy Presentation 3/18

Are you a homeowner who is interested in learning more about solar energy? Join award-winning solar designer and world-renowned solar thermal trainer Todd Paternoster will be on hand to share his knowledge of solar systems and installation techniques. Mr. Paternoster will present on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:30am in the Smart Community Room. If you are thinking of updating to solar or just curious about the subject, we encourage you to attend.

This presentation is free and open to the public.
